DEBESMSCAT Conducts Business Excellence Self-Assessment Test with Development Academy of the Philippines

In line with DEBESMSCAT’s commitment to continuous improvement, the institution hosted the Business Excellence Self-Assessment Test 2024 from September 30 to October 4, 2024, at Trios Lake Resort, Palani, Balud, Masbate. This 5-day event, facilitated by experts from the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), is part of the institution’s strategic preparations for the Philippine Quality Award (PQA). The training was led by Dr. Joel C. Amante, alongside Ms. Ann Margaret B. Reyes and Ms. Melanie Garcia-Mercader, who guided DEBESMSCAT’s team through various critical components required for a successful PQA application report.

The opening day was led by Ms. Melanie Garcia-Mercader and Ms. Ann Margaret B. Reyes, who introduced participants to the structure and goals of the PQA. They provided an overview of the 4-day training, ensuring that all actions support long-term organizational growth. The day laid the groundwork for writing a comprehensive PQA application report.

Dr. Joel C. Amante took over as facilitator on the second day. The discussion focused on the detailed process of writing the PQA application report, including the frameworks ADLI (Approach, Deployment, Learning, and Integration) and LTCI (Level, Trend, Comparison, and Integration). This ensured that every step taken by DEBESMSCAT reflects its commitment to transformational opportunities for its stakeholders.

Day three addressed Category 1: Leadership and Category 2: Strategy of the PQA application report. The participants, under Dr. Amante’s guidance, analyzed how DEBESMSCAT’s leadership could better align with its strategic objectives. The discussions highlighted the importance of leadership in creating a strategic path that drives sustainable growth for both the institution and the community.

On the fourth day, discussions moved to Category 3: Customers and Category 4: Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management, along with the Catergory 5: Workforce component. Dr. Amante emphasized improving service delivery, customer satisfaction, and workforce development, creating great opportunities for both students and staff through enhanced performance.

The final day of the training focused on Category 6: Operations. The discussions revolved around streamlining operational processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring that DEBESMSCAT’s operations reflect the institution’s mission to foster development.

This training represents a crucial step in DEBESMSCAT’s journey toward achieving the Philippine Quality Award. Under the leadership of Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, the institution remains focused on creating transformative opportunities, ensuring excellence in education and service for the community of Masbate.
