The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) formally welcomed the Academic Year 2026–2027 on August 10 through an opening ceremony that also marked the institution’s kick-off celebration of ASEAN Month 2026.
The opening ceremony began with a solemn Holy Mass led by Rev. Fr. Tristan Briones, providing a reflective and meaningful start to the new academic year. The activity brought together students, faculty, administrators, and members of the academic community as DEBESMSCAT officially opened its doors for another year of learning, growth, and service.
Highlighting the ceremony was the presentation of the officers of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and College Student Councils (CSC), along with selected students. The presentation underscored the important role of student leaders and learners in advancing student participation and representation in the institution’s academic, leadership, and co-curricular activities.
The opening of classes also welcomed more than 2,500 first-year students into the DEBESMSCAT community, marking the beginning of their college journey and bringing renewed energy to the campus during the first week of classes.
Adding warmth to the first day of the academic year, the SSC, in collaboration with the DEBESMSCAT Administration, provided hot meals to students. The initiative served as a gesture of welcome and support, particularly for learners beginning a new chapter of their academic journey.
The opening ceremony likewise set the tone for DEBESMSCAT’s celebration of ASEAN Month 2026, highlighting the institution’s commitment to promoting regional awareness, cultural appreciation, cooperation, and the values of solidarity among the peoples of Southeast Asia.
As the new academic year begins, DEBESMSCAT looks forward to another year of empowering learners, strengthening student participation, and fostering an academic community anchored on excellence, inclusivity, and service.
