The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) Quality Assurance (QA) Team officially launched its benchmarking activity at Cavite State University (CvSU), aiming to strengthen institutional quality systems and accreditation readiness.
The delegation was led by Dr. Rodolfo B. Burac, Jr., OIC Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation (VPREI), together with the Quality Assurance Center headed by Prof. Rocel A. Turco, QA Director, members of the Institutional Accreditation (IA) Task Force, and QA personnel.
The DEBESMSCAT team was warmly welcomed by CvSU officials under the leadership of University President Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro, represented by the university’s vice presidents: Dr. Mary Jane D. Tepora, Vice President for Planning and Development (VPPD); Dr. Cristina M. Signo, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA); Dr. Almira G. Magcawas, Vice President for Business and Resource Generation (VPBRG); Mr. John Xavier B. Nepumuceno, Vice President for Administrative and Support Services (VPASS); and Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac, Vice President for Resource, Innovation, and Extension (VPRIE). Also present were Directors under the VPPD, including Dr. Orlando C. Delos Reyes, Project Management Office Director, and Engr. Gerry M. Castillo, Planning and Development Office Director.
Both institutions exchanged messages of gratitude, highlighting mutual trust, collaboration, and shared commitment to quality assurance.
A key highlight of the visit was the comprehensive presentation delivered by Dr. Pia Rhoda Lucero, Director for Quality Assurance of CvSU, who discussed the university’s Quality Assurance culture and its journey toward major recognitions, including the Philippine Quality Award (PQA), Institutional Accreditation, and various international awards.
Dr. Lucero also led a guided tour of the QA Office, providing DEBESMSCAT with actual samples of documents, systems, and best practices used in institutional accreditation.
The benchmarking activity is a crucial step for DEBESMSCAT as it prepares to undertake a similar quality assurance and accreditation journey.
Cavite State University stood as a model institution, demonstrating strong dedication to quality, excellence, and continuous improvement, qualities that inspired the DEBESMSCAT team through its professionalism, systems-driven approach, and institutional pride.
