January 16, 2024 – Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture (DEBESMSCAT) and Don Mariano Marcos State University forged solid ties and linkages through the signing of MOAs on the establishment of satellite Apiculture in Masbate Province and the conduct of Sericulture training to men and women farmers of Masbate, entitled: SERICULTURE: An Alternative Source of Income to Enhance the Livelihood of Men and Women Farmers of the Province of Masbate, with the motto: “Building Skill, Creating Opportunities” on January 16, 2024 at the DMMSU International Convention Center, Bacnotan. La Union.

The Apiculture Center and Sericulture training are undertakings that perfectly align with the ultimate vision of DEBESMSCAT: to become a globally competitive university in agricultural and technological innovations for socio-economic transformation. This collaborative initiative holds immense promise for the farming landscape of the province of Masbate. The abovementioned programs’ focus aligns with the province’s agrarian needs and presents an innovative approach to enhancing the livelihoods of Masbateṅo farmers.

The motto of one of the projects, “Building Skill, Creating Opportunities,” encapsulates what this collaboration aims to achieve. Apiculture and sericulture are viable alternative sources of income and have the potential to bring about transformative change in the community’s socio-economic sector.
