DTI Masbate Inspects New Equipment for DEBESMSCAT FabLab Enhancement

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Masbate Provincial Office visited the Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) today to personally conduct the technical inspection of additional high-grade machinery. This activity is part of the Project Enhancement Project for the Masbate Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab), a move aimed at boosting the province’s technical and creative capabilities.

The DTI team, led by Mr. Hervie L. Abuedo and Mr. Joebert Cornal, were welcomed by FabLab Project Leader Mr. Francis Kyle R. Malto, along with faculty members from the College of Industrial Technology, College of Engineering, and the College of Computing and Information Technology.

This project, which was approved and funded by DTI Masbate, introduces advanced technology designed to bridge the gap between digital design and physical production. Among the equipment delivered is a High-Production UV Printer, which is built for high-speed, durable printing on various surfaces to help local entrepreneurs create professional-grade packaging. The laboratory also received a Precision Autoroute Elite CNC Router for intricate carving and industrial parts production, as well as a Desktop 3D Printer with carbon fiber capability, an advanced tool used for making lightweight but ultra-strong functional prototypes.

The arrival of these machines offers a boost to the institution’s vision in technological advancement as the equipment provides students with a modern laboratory for hands-on experience with current industrial technologies, ensuring they are well-prepared for the workforce, this will also serves as an innovation hub for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Masbate. Local businesses can now access high-end fabrication services locally, which helps reduce their production costs and improves the overall quality of their products.

The ongoing partnership between DTI and DEBESMSCAT reinforces a sustainable ecosystem for local talent. By upgrading these facilities, the province of Masbate continues to improve its capability for creative design and industrial technology, paving the way for more local innovation.
