DEBESMSCAT SGSR Concludes Two-Day Academic and Extension Engagement in Balud, Masbate

The DEBESMSCAT School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) wrapped up its two-day activities in Balud, Masbate, today. The event featured a research colloquium led by SGSR faculty and student researchers alongside two community extension programs in Barangay Pajo and Barangay Palani that benefited two local schools.

A major highlight of the second day was the DEBESMSCAT-SGSR Curriculum Review. Dr. Bernard S. Pantonilla, Chief Education Program Specialist from CHED Regional Office III, served as the guest speaker and guided everyone through Curriculum Development and Program Evaluation: A Framework for Responsive, Relevant, and Future-Ready Graduate Education.

SUC President III Dr. Arnel B. Millesca personally joined the gathering and emphasized that the success of the activity would not have been possible without the active participation of the student body. He reminded the students how lucky they are to study at DEBESMSCAT, noting that the school recently secured its ISO certification and stands proud as the only SUC in Bicol offering a trimester system designed to fast-track their professional growth. Dr. Millesca also stated that curriculum review is crucial, pointing out that continuously refining our programs ensures we are giving students the exact insights, skills, and adaptability they need to thrive in the real world.

Dr. Elreen A. Delavin, Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted how much the institution stands to gain from this curriculum review. She noted that a responsive curriculum directly uplifts DEBESMSCAT’s academic standards, drives institutional growth, and ensures that the institution consistently delivers quality education aligned with current industry and community demands.

The successful two-day engagement concluded with a renewed commitment from the administration, faculty, and students to continuously pursue academic excellence, community development, and responsive educational frameworks that empower the future leaders of Masbate.
