
August 11, 2025 – The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) officially opened the First Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026 on Monday, August 11, with a vibrant celebration in honor of ASEAN Month.
Led by SUC President Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, the college officials, deans, faculty members, and administrative personnel warmly welcomed new and returning students in colorful ASEAN-inspired attire, celebrating the values of unity, cultural appreciation, and academic excellence.
The opening program commenced with the usual flag ceremony, followed by the raising of the ASEAN flag and the singing of the ASEAN Hymn, symbolizing solidarity with Southeast Asian nations. In his welcome message, Dr. Millesca emphasized the importance of embracing diversity and strengthening cross-cultural understanding among students as part of their journey toward becoming globally competitive graduates.
International Relations Officer Dr. Nikki Faith Bantillo delivered an awareness message on ASEAN’s role in fostering values of mutual cooperation and shared prosperity. This was followed by a lively Unity Dance performed by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and College Student Council (CSC) officers, promoting peace and collaboration across cultures.
Adding an inspiring note to the event, SSC Chairperson Zaira Joy S. Maglente shared her “Values of the Week” message, motivating students to uphold respect, unity, and responsibility both within and beyond the campus.
The celebration also featured an ASEAN cultural showcase and the awarding of the Best ASEAN Attire in the administrative, teaching, and student categories.
College Board Secretary Allan O. Delos Reyes introduced DEBESMSCAT’s key officials to the student body, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to accessible leadership and transparent governance.
To keep the festive atmosphere alive, the DEBESMSCAT Marching Band delivered spirited performances, while students enjoyed free hot breakfast meals, sponsored by the college officials, deans, and SSC Officers — a tradition that reflects the college’s warm hospitality and care for its learners.
By integrating the opening of classes with ASEAN Month festivities, DEBESMSCAT underscored its dedication to providing quality education while cultivating globally aware, culturally enriched, and socially responsible graduates.
