DEBESMSCAT Makes Major Leap in 2026 Webometrics Global University Rankings

The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) has marked a significant milestone after posting a remarkable rise in the 2026 Webometrics Global Web Rankings for Universities, underscoring the institution’s growing digital presence and academic visibility.

In the latest rankings, DEBESMSCAT placed 5,300th globally and 211th nationally, a significant leap from its 2025 rankings of 24,507th worldwide and 270th in the Philippines. The sharp improvement reflects sustained efforts to enhance the college’s online visibility, research dissemination, and transparency.

The Webometrics Ranking, published by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), evaluates universities worldwide based on their web performance and academic impact. Unlike reputation-based rankings, Webometrics focuses on how institutions share knowledge online and make research accessible to the global community.

Universities are assessed using four key indicators: Visibility, which measures external links and online influence; Excellence, which looks at highly cited research publications; Openness, which evaluates the availability and citation of open-access research outputs; and Presence, which considers the volume of information published on official university web platforms.

DEBESMSCAT officials attributed the improved ranking to strengthened digital governance, increased publication of academic and institutional outputs, and more proactive use of official online platforms to showcase research, programs, and public service initiatives.

The latest Webometrics standing underscores DEBESMSCAT’s commitment to academic excellence, transparency, and global engagement, while reinforcing its broader institutional goals, including innovation-driven development and its ongoing journey toward universityhood.
