September 7, 2023 – DEBESMSCAT students and personnel actively joins in the 3rd Quarter Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) led by the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on September 7, 2023 at exactly 2PM.
The simultaneous onsite drill in the College was spearheaded by Mr. Wilfred O. Pagorogon, DRRM Director of the institution, with strong collaboration to various local agencies such as the BFP, LGU, and MDRRMO.
The drill commenced with the sounding of sirens across the campus, signaling the start of the simulated earthquake. Faculty, staff, and students swiftly took cover under tables, desks, and other sturdy pieces of furniture. This critical practice is designed to protect individuals from falling debris and potential hazards during an actual earthquake.
The 3rd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is part of the Philippines’ continuous efforts to enhance disaster resilience across the nation. It encourages institutions, communities, and individuals to be prepared for natural disasters like earthquakes, which are common in the region.
DEBESMSCAT College’s active participation in this drill is a testament to its commitment in ensuring the safety and security of all its stakeholders. By regularly conducting these drills, the College ensures that its students and staff are well-equipped to handle emergencies and contribute to a safer and more resilient society.
