April 21, 2026- DEBESMSCAT conducted an Intellectual Property and IP Policy Awareness program for College of Engineering students this morning at the College Function Hall, aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of intellectual property rights, institutional IP policy, and technology transfer.
The activity featured discussions on the fundamentals of intellectual property, the salient provisions of the institution’s revised IP policy, and the school’s technology transfer protocol. The event was led by the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management in partnership with RAISE Bicol, IPOPHIL and DOST-PCAARRD.
Among the speakers were Engr. Vivian R. Compracion, PTA III, who discussed the introduction to intellectual property, and Engr. Marco Angelo R. Dejucos, IPTBM Director, who presented the salient features of DEBESMSCAT’s revised IP policy. The program also included an open forum, and the opening remarks was delivered by Engr. Nacel Altizon. Mr. Ariel Monton served as the master of ceremony all throughout the event.
The event underscored the importance of intellectual property awareness among engineering students, particularly in protecting research outputs, innovative ideas, and future inventions. It also served as a venue for students to gain a clearer understanding of their rights and responsibilities as potential creators and innovators.
