DEBESMSCAT Caps SUC-ACAP Strategic Planning Workshop with Focus on Innovation Commercialization and Intellectual Property

The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) capped its three-day participation in the State Universities and Colleges–Association of Colleges of Agriculture in the Philippines (SUC-ACAP), Inc. Strategic Planning and Innovation Workshop for the Agriculture Higher Education Program with discussions on innovation commercialization and intellectual property protection—key components in transforming academic research into impactful and sustainable agricultural solutions.

The workshop’s final day featured a technical session led by Engr. Aldrex L. Aviso, Intellectual Property Rights Specialist at the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), who shared practical insights on intellectual property protection, technology commercialization, and innovation management. His presentation underscored the importance of safeguarding research outputs and accelerating their transfer to industry to maximize their economic and societal impact.

Participants also engaged in collaborative workshops, integrating the knowledge and strategies gained throughout the three-day activity into actionable plans for their respective institutions. The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment among SUC-ACAP member institutions to strengthen agriculture higher education through innovation, strategic partnerships, and responsive academic leadership.

Through its participation, DEBESMSCAT reaffirmed its commitment to advancing quality agriculture education, promoting research commercialization, and developing future-ready academic programs that contribute to sustainable agricultural development and national progress.
