March 9, 2026 β The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) officially opened its Womenβs Month Celebration today with a program held in front of the Administration Building, highlighting the institutionβs commitment to gender equality and women empowerment.
The opening activity was spearheaded by Dr. Joey PardeΓ±o, Gender and Development (GAD) Director, together with the collegeβs GAD coordinators, faculty members, staff, and students who gathered to show their support for the nationwide celebration recognizing the vital role of women in society.
The program featured Hon. Kristine Salve Hao-Kho, Municipal Mayor of Mandaon, who served as the eventβs resource speaker. In her message, Mayor Kho emphasized the importance of empowering women in leadership, education, and community development, encouraging participants to continue advocating for equal opportunities and respect for womenβs rights.

Following the program, participants showcased their creativity and advocacy during a Slogan Competition on Women Empowerment, where students expressed powerful messages promoting gender equality and the significant contributions of women in nation-building.
Adding energy and entertainment to the celebration were live band performances led by Mr. Gerald O. Ramo, Mr. Sherwin Balbuena, and Mr. Wilfred O. Pagorogon, whose musical numbers further enlivened the atmosphere and engaged the audience.
The opening activity marked the beginning of a series of initiatives and events organized by the college throughout March in support of National Womenβs Month, reinforcing DEBESMSCATβs commitment to promoting gender sensitivity, inclusivity, and empowerment within the academic community.
Through this celebration, the institution continues to recognize the invaluable contributions of women and strengthen its advocacy for gender equality and inclusive development.
