The Supreme Student Council (SSC) officers and College Student Council representatives of DEBESMSCAT gathered for the first day of SIKLAB 2026: Igniting the Spark for Inclusive and Transformative Governance, a leadership training aimed at strengthening student leadership and governance.
The program officially opened with an inspiring message from SUC President III Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, who encouraged the participants to lead with integrity, inclusivity, and a genuine commitment to serving the student body. He emphasized that true leadership is measured not by position, but by the positive impact leaders create in their organizations and communities.
The training featured a series of plenary sessions covering important topics in student leadership. These included Gender Planning and Budgeting, which highlighted the importance of inclusive and gender-responsive programs, and Planning Student Initiatives: Mastering the Calendar of Activities, Projects, and Budget Essentials (CAPBE), which provided practical guidance on planning and managing student organization activities.
To reinforce the discussions, participants actively joined workshops on Crafting Activity Proposals, Crafting Project Proposals, and Writing Resolutions. These hands-on sessions allowed student leaders to apply what they learned by preparing proposals and resolutions that can be used in their respective councils and future initiatives.
The first day concluded with a sharing of insights and an open forum, where participants reflected on the lessons gained throughout the day. Through the combination of discussions and workshops, the training equipped the SSC and College Student Council officers with practical knowledge and leadership skills that they can apply in their respective organizations.
SIKLAB 2026 is organized by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), headed by Dean Prof. Grace B. Abella, as part of the College’s continuing commitment to developing competent, responsible, and service-oriented student leaders.
