DEBESMSCAT Conducts Basic Life Support Training as Part of Women’s Month Celebration

CABITAN, MANDAON, MASBATE — The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) successfully conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training on March 10–11, 2026, at the DEBESMSCAT College Function Hall, Cabitan, Mandaon, Masbate as part of its National Women’s Month Celebration activities.

The two-day training aimed to equip participants with essential emergency response skills that can help save lives during critical situations. The program opened with welcome messages led by Dr. Elreen A. Delavin, Vice President for Academic Affairs, followed by a statement of purpose delivered by Mr. Wilfred C. Pagorogon, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Director of the institution.

Training sessions were facilitated by Ms. Sharon V. Alita, MDRRM Officer of LGU Mandaon, who provided hands-on instruction on various emergency management techniques. Topics covered included First Aid Management for Emergencies, Soft Tissue Injury Treatment, Bandaging, Splinting, Carries and Transport, Spine Board Management, Foreign Body Airway Obstruction, and Basic Life Support procedures.

Participants also took part in return demonstrations to ensure that they were able to properly apply the life-saving techniques discussed during the sessions.

Organized as part of the institution’s Women’s Month activities, the training highlights DEBESMSCAT’s commitment to empowering individuals, particularly women, with practical skills that promote safety, leadership, and community service.

The activity also reinforced the institution’s role in advancing community-oriented programs that contribute to disaster preparedness and public welfare.
