Futures Thinking for Sustainability: DEBESMSCAT conducts Strategic Planning 2024-2028

DEBESMSCAT, through the Office of the Planning and Development, conducted a 3-day Strategic Planning 2024-2028 on January 19-21, 2024, at Trio’s Lake Resort, Palani, Balud, Masbate with a theme: “Re-Think, Re-Plan, Re-Create: A Strategic Approach to Future Challenge.” The event was actively attended by Key officials, Deans, Directors, Department Heads, and Unit Heads of the institution.

The 3-day seminar-workshop was held to envision and plan the future directions of the institution. Some topics were discussed, such as Envisioning the future of DEBESMSCAT, risk assessment and management of risk, anticipating challenges and foresight, and setting the road map. Distinguished resource speakers were invited to the event. The resource speakers were Dr. Milabel Ho, AACCUP Executive Director; Dr. Ferdinand Bulusan, Vice President for Academic and Related Affairs, Batanes State College; and Dr. Sanjay Claudio, QA Director, Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, SUC President III, expressed his gratitude for the participants’ dedication in completing the arduous but significant task of planning for the better future of DEBESMSCAT. He also emphasized the importance of team work and collaboration in successfully completing the roadmap for the sustainable future of the institution as what is highly encapsulated in his T.E.A.M. advocacy wherein, Together Everyone Achieves More.

Message from the President

Ladies and gentlemen,

As the newly-installed SUC President of DEBESMSCAT, I am truly humbled and honored to assume this role. It is my goal in my 4-year term to share with you my vision and advocacy, which centers around the power of unity and collaboration, embodied by the acronym TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More.

Leadership, to me, is not about commanding from the top or solely relying on individual brilliance. It is about recognizing the immense potential within each member of our institution and harnessing that collective strength to achieve remarkable things. True leadership requires humility, the ability to listen, learn, and empower others.

As we embark on this journey together, my aim is to cultivate an environment where every member of DEBESMSCAT feels valued, respected, and inspired to contribute their best. Together, we can achieve more than any one person could on their own.

I firmly believe that by fostering a culture of teamwork, we can overcome challenges, spark innovation, and bring about transformative change. Each of us possesses unique talents and perspectives that, when combined, form a powerful force for progress. By embracing diversity, encouraging collaboration, and fostering open communication, we can create a vibrant community that thrives on shared achievements.

Furthermore, leadership with humility is at the core of my approach. I understand that my role as President is not one of authority, but rather one of service. I am here to support and uplift every member of the DEBESMSCAT family, working hand in hand to cultivate an environment that promotes personal growth, academic excellence, and holistic development.

In the spirit of humility, I am committed to listening to your ideas, concerns, and aspirations. Your voices matter, and I encourage each of you to actively engage in shaping our shared future. Together, we can explore new horizons, seize opportunities, and tackle the challenges that lie ahead.
