DEBESMSCAT attends the Official Launch of DOST’s Program PROPEL

December 4, 2024 – DEBESMSCAT President Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, together with the Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Rodolfo B. Burac Jr., attended the unveiling of the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) transformative initiative, Program PROPEL: Accelerating Innovations in the Philippines, Propelling Innovations from the Philippines. The event was held at the Maynila Ballroom of The Manila Hotel. This landmark program aims to bridge the gap between groundbreaking research and successful commercialization, positioning the Philippines at the forefront of global science and technology innovation.

The Vision Behind PROPEL

Program PROPEL is designed to consolidate DOST’s existing programs, providing a comprehensive platform for researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators. It integrates mentorship, capacity building, legal and intellectual property support, and access to cutting-edge facilities, while facilitating connections with investors and financial support systems.

During the launch, DOST officials emphasized the 12 building blocks of the program, including partnerships with private industries, access to advanced facilities, and financial resources to ensure market readiness and competitiveness.

Aligned with the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009 and the Innovative Startup Act, the program reaffirms DOST’s mission to drive national economic development through science and technology.
