DEBESMSCAT Personnel attends OCD5’s 2-Day Online DRRM Training

DEBESMSCAT personnel attended a 2-day online Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) training led by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Region V on May 15-16, 2025 via zoom online. The training aims to equip public sector employees with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate DRRM into government services. Additionally, during emergencies, participants will learn how to help ensure the continuity of government operations by addressing disaster-related risks.

The 2-day online DRRM training discussed different topics such as overview and salient points of RA 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, different types of hazards such as hydrometeorological hazards (thunderstorms, rainfall, tornado, etc) and geohazards (earthquake, landslides, etc).

Moreover, there were different resource speakers from PAG-ASA, Red Cross, DOST-V, and BFP-V, who discussed topics related to DRRM such as first-aid procedures, fire prevention, and utilization of DOST’s website: hazards.ph to know potential hazards of a certain area or place.
