The Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) welcomed back its students and faculty members during the conduct of Monday Convocation held on January 17, 2022 at the DEBESMSCAT main campus.
Due to the Covid-19 Alert level 3 classification of Masbate, the College opted for the conduct of classes via a Flexible mode of learning starting on January 17, 2022. The limited face-to-face classes was deferred to a later date or hopefully by January 31, 2022 as announced by the SUC president, Dr. Renee A. Lamela. As per instruction from CHED, the “situation on the ground” or where the SUC is located will be the primary determining factor for the implementation of Limited F2F classes. Since DEBESMSCAT is located at LGU-Mandaon with an identified 8 active cases of COVID infection as of this month, the possibility of limited F2F classes by the end of January is highly expected.
Dr. Lamela personally extended her warm welcome to the students, faculty members, and to the newly-hired COS instructors for the second semester. In her message, she emphasized the idea of ”loving one’s work” as a way to show gratitude, that despite the ongoing pandemic and crisis our country is facing, we are still given the opportunity to work, to get paid, and to still continue our passion for teaching and learning.
The convocation was hosted by the faculty and staff of the College of Education and was attended personally by key officials, teaching and non-teaching personnel of the College, and attended virtually by the DEBESMSCAT students.
