Iloilo City – The SUC Fair 2023 was held on July 10-13, 2023 at the Iloilo SM City, and was actively participated by different SUCs in various regions from Luzon to Mindanao. DEBESMSCAT was one of the eager SUC delegates from the Bicol Region.
The fair themed: “Navigating the Global Landscape through Innovations, Cultural and Arts Preservation, and Higher Education Quality,” is a CHED-initiated activity conducted every year and hosted by the West Visayas State University (WVSU).
It was a venue to recognize the invaluable contribution of stakeholders throughout the country in advancing higher education, research, and development. In addition, the fair served as the highlight of the celebration of the CHED anniversary with a focus on exploring strategies for navigating the global landscape through innovations, cultural and arts preservation, and higher education quality. The four-day activity attracted a diverse crowd of visitors, exhibitors, and esteemed guests as it served as a platform of each region to display and showcase their talents, products, and rich culture.
One of the highlights of the event was the presence of prominent CHED officials, SUC Presidents, and the First Lady of the Philippines, Atty. Louise Marcos who actively participated in the opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the event.
For the DEBESMSCAT delegates, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐁. 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚, SUC President III, graced the occasion with his esteemed presence. Accompanying him were 𝐌𝐬. 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐃. 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐧, Director for Commercialization and Production, and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢 𝐆𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐦, Director for Information and Resource Management who served as exhibitors of Masbate’s bestsellers’ Carmelado, Dulce de Butong, and the research-based product of DEBESMSCAT- the Batuan soap.
Moreover, the fair showcased cultural shows and series of competitions such as Songwriting competition, Vlogging Competition, Youthpreneurship competition, and the Mr. and Ms. SUC Fair 2023.
Visitors to the fair were treated to a feast for the senses as they immersed themselves in the vibrant display of booths and exhibits. SUCs from different regions proudly showcased their products in their respective booth. Throughout the conduct of the fair, the participating SUCs such as DEBESMSCAT, was given the opportunity to promote and sell their products to various visitors and clienteles.
