Twenty nine professors and researchers from Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology attend the Social Development Research Center Capacity Building and Training (Training on Qualitative Research) conducted, in partnership with the De La Salle University SDRC, by DEBESMSCAT at Winter’s Farm, Cayabon, Milagros, Masbate, on February 28, 2020.
The training was a fruit of a series of national research conducted by the DLSU over the years. DEBESMSCAT, being the lone State College in the Province of Masbate, is the perfect partner for the DLSU not only to enter into research collaboration on future qualitative research in the province, but for the conduct of their extension programs, as well.
Qualitative research experts from the De La Salle University as Ms. Connie Jan Maraan, Coordinator for Publications and Research Dissemination, Dr. Melvin A. Jabar, Director of SDRC and Associate Professor in the Behavioral Sciences Department of DLSU and Ms. Klarizze V. Siddayao, Research Associate were the primary resource speakers for the said activity.
Earlier this year, DLSU has already conducted a research within Masbate in collaboration with three professors in the college. The training not only trained the selected professors on the conduct of Qualitative Research and the writing of the paper but forged a way for future collaborations in terms of research and extension.
The one-day activity ended up with outputs from the participants and an increased sense of confidence among the professors of the college to conduct qualitative research on issues on Social Sciences.
“In the little ways that DEBESMSCAT and the De La Salle University can… [We] want to uplift the quality of the lives of Filipinos. This, we can start by engaging in [qualitative] research,” said Dr. Renee A. Lamela, SUC President of DEBESMSCAT.
