December 4, 2024 – In its continuous effort to support digital transformation in the government sector, DEBESMSCAT participated in the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference 2024 organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The event took place on December 4, 2024, at Rizal Park Hotel, Metro Manila. Representing DEBESMSCAT were MIS Head Mr. Nestor John C. Villamor, the institution’s designated Primary Chief Information Officer, and PIO Engr. Genesis A. Tumbaga, the designated Alternate Chief Information Officer.
The conference provided a platform for Chief Information Officers from government departments, bureaus, state universities and colleges (SUCs), government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), and other government offices to discuss the current state of the ICT sector in the Philippines. It also highlighted ongoing digitalization initiatives and future plans to convene the CIO Council, ensuring collaborative progress toward a more digitally empowered nation.
One of the highlight of the event was the activation of the Chief Information Officers Council. They will serve as a pivotal body for strengthening coordination and collaboration among CIOs from various government offices, ensuring the seamless implementation of digitalization initiatives across the country. The designated Chief Information Officers from each government department, bureau, and agency, including state universities and colleges (SUCs), will take charge in spearheading digital transformation efforts within their respective institutions
A significant milestone of the event was the formalization of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DICT and the CIO Forum. This partnership underscores the commitment of government institutions, including DEBESMSCAT, to advance e-Government initiatives for the benefit of the Filipino people.
DEBESMSCAT remains steadfast in its mission to leverage technology in providing quality education and efficient public service.
