DEBESMSCAT, the lone state college of Masbate Province, celebrated its 22nd charter anniversary and women’s month with various activities last March 7-8, 2017. Solidarity walk was conducted early in the morning of March 7, 2017 followed by a Zumba dance at the Agri Eco-Tourism Park of the college. After the breakfast, a thanksgiving mass was held then the participants proceeded to the College Athletic Ground for the sports events contested between the teaching and non-teaching staff. In the afternoon, Zumba contests were conducted, teaching and non-teaching category and student category with a theme #JuanaZumbaJuana.
Different contests for students were also done such as vocal solo, mixed duet, extemporaneous speaking, storytelling, essay writing, spelling bee, quiz bee, and dance sports. A salon service with discount in support to the women’s month celebration with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women” became available also in the vicinity of the college.
On the second day, simultaneous parents’ forum per college was conducted in the morning. In the afternoon, a program was held to celebrate the charter anniversary with the theme “DEBESMSCAT in the Past, at Present and in the Future, Every Stakeholder’s Pride and Responsibility” with Dr. Beda C. Mingoy, former Vice President for Academic Affairs as keynote speaker. In her speech, Dr. Mingoy elucidated the journey of the college from its existence and the roles that every stakeholder should do to continue the progress of the college. In the evening, the teaching and non-teaching staff were glamorous and elegant in their Filipiniana attire as they gathered together for a grand gala night. Hon. Ermelo C. Rañola, Member of Board of Trustees of DEBESMSCAT attended the gala night.
The two-day celebrations of the two significant events added to the milestones of the college’s ventures towards transforming lives and shaping the future.
