bicol SUC DEBESMSCAT initiates Capability Enhancement Seminar for Mid-level Managers

The capability enhancement seminar entitled Futures Ready DEBESMSCAT: Honing Middle-Level Unit Heads, and was actively attended by 55 mid-level unit heads and managers of DEBESMSCAT last December 1-2, 2022 at Beatriz Rafaela Resort, Balud, Masbate.

Dr. Renee A. Lamela, SUC President III, and Mrs. Ligaya M. Capinig, HRMO, spearheaded the event, which was designed to train futures-ready human resources through mindsets of the leadership requirements in the changing environment (V.U.C.A.D.). Moreover, the seminar aimed to:

To know thyself as a critical element for career growth;
To understand the changing environment and management in the New Normal;
To develop an awareness of leadership frameworks, and futures thinking principles in the changing environment and
To embrace an outcome-based leadership growth map as output.

The seminar invited five (5) resource persons to discuss different and relevant topics with the participants. Dr. Arlene Barredo-Carmen, KM Officer, hosted the event.

Ladies and gentlemen,

As the newly-installed SUC President of DEBESMSCAT, I am truly humbled and honored to assume this role. It is my goal in my 4-year term to share with you my vision and advocacy, which centers around the power of unity and collaboration, embodied by the acronym TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More.

Leadership, to me, is not about commanding from the top or solely relying on individual brilliance. It is about recognizing the immense potential within each member of our institution and harnessing that collective strength to achieve remarkable things. True leadership requires humility, the ability to listen, learn, and empower others.

As we embark on this journey together, my aim is to cultivate an environment where every member of DEBESMSCAT feels valued, respected, and inspired to contribute their best. Together, we can achieve more than any one person could on their own.

I firmly believe that by fostering a culture of teamwork, we can overcome challenges, spark innovation, and bring about transformative change. Each of us possesses unique talents and perspectives that, when combined, form a powerful force for progress. By embracing diversity, encouraging collaboration, and fostering open communication, we can create a vibrant community that thrives on shared achievements.

Furthermore, leadership with humility is at the core of my approach. I understand that my role as President is not one of authority, but rather one of service. I am here to support and uplift every member of the DEBESMSCAT family, working hand in hand to cultivate an environment that promotes personal growth, academic excellence, and holistic development.

In the spirit of humility, I am committed to listening to your ideas, concerns, and aspirations. Your voices matter, and I encourage each of you to actively engage in shaping our shared future. Together, we can explore new horizons, seize opportunities, and tackle the challenges that lie ahead.
