
Marikina Polytechnic College, March 5-7, 2025– DEBESMSCAT attended the 38th AACCUP Annual National Conference and General Assembly with 114 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in attendance from all-over the country. The conference was graced by distinguished speakers from notable agencies to discuss topics in accordance with this year’s theme: “ELEVATE, EMPOWER, AND EXPAND QA IN HIGHER EDUCATION”.

The DEBESMSCAT delegation consists of Key Officials: Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, SUC President III; Dr. Erwin H. Malto, Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF); Dr. Rodolfo B. Burac, Jr., Vice President for Research, Extension, Innovation, Creative Works, and Knowledge Management; Accreditors: Dr. Milagros A. Celedonio, Dr. Jessica M. Alcantara, Ms. Iris B. Castillo, Dr. Sherwin Balbuena, Dr. Morena C. Buayan, Ms. Mary Immaculate Lim; the Quality Assurance Team: Ms. Rocel A. Turco, Quality Assurance Director and Mr. Rex Jr. G. Torrefiel, Quality Assurance Officer along with Mr. Allan O. Delos Reyes, College Secretary V; Ms. Crystel Angelou Ilustre, Assistant Board Secretary; Mr. Genesis B. Tumbaga, Public Information Officer and Mr. Emmanuel Merioles, Student Representative.

The 3-day assembly was an opportunity for engagement among Key Officials, Accreditors, and Quality Assurance teams in hopes of enhancing quality assurance measures through Quality Assurance strategies and frameworks, sharing of best practices, and learning innovative solutions.
Frameworks like APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) shared by Prof. DATO’ DR. Mohammad Shatar Sabran, CEO of Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in Malaysia and SMART BukSu Framework of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) were discussed in relation to innovative solutions and sustainable strategies for quality assurance. Distinguished speakers emphasized collaborative approaches and relevant measures to elevate, empower, and expand quality assurance in higher education.

The DEBESMSCAT Delegation also received a plaque of recognition ranking Top 2 Performing State College with the Highest Number of Level I Accredited Programs. The recognition forges opportunity to elevate, empower, and expand quality assurance measures as the institution graces a much more challenging quality assurance journey with its quest for Institutional Accreditation, Philippine Quality Award, ISO, and World Rankings.
