
June 6, 2023 – The 1st DEBESMSCAT Student Research Congress (DSRC) took place at the College Function Hall, with the theme “Innovating for Tomorrow: Student Research Driving Change.” The event aimed to highlight the crucial role of student research in shaping a brighter future. Attended by esteemed guests and facilitated by prominent personalities, the congress served as a platform to inspire and recognize the innovative prowess of the DEBESMSCAT students.
Through the leadership of Mr. Erdee C. Cajurao, Coordinator of the Student Research Services, the DSRC proved to be a resounding success, attracting a diverse array of participants from various disciplines. The event was graced by key officials, including Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, SUC President III; Dr. Rodolfo B. Burac Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Mrs. Grace B. Abella, OSAS Director, who displayed their unwavering support for student-driven initiatives.
The highlight of the congress was the enlightening keynote address delivered by Prof. Ronnel R. Dioneda, Director for Research and Development and Management Division of Bicol University. Prof. Dioneda’s profound insights on research methodologies and the potential for transformative change inspired the attendees, igniting a sense of passion and purpose.
The day-long event featured an impressive lineup of student research presentations. Spanning a wide range of disciplines, these presentations covered topics such as Information Systems, Public Administrations, Agriculture, Engineering, and others.
To ensure wider participation and accessibility, the congress was also live-streamed via Facebook Live. This online broadcast allowed a broader audience to engage with the event, reaching beyond the physical confines of the venue. Ms. Froilyn Ancajas, the event’s host, skillfully guided the proceedings, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for both in-person and virtual attendees.
